Every year thousands of pet birds are abused, neglected, and abandoned. Many people purchase a pet bird because they want a unique pet, but fail to research what it takes to provide these amazing creatures the necessary care they need to thrive in captivity. We dedicate our time and energy to helping to rebuild trusting relationships with unwanted, abandoned, abused, and neglected pet birds and give them a loving forever home. We do not breed, buy or sell our rescue birds. Our primary goal is to provide a second chance and lots of love for these birds.
The hyacinth macaw is the largest of all parrots. Originally from Brazil, Paragua and Bolivia, the hyacinth is the “Great Dane” of companion birds. This is Bubba and his Mom Cherise who visits him nearly every day. Read more HERE
Moluccans are also called salmon-crested cockatoos because of the salmon-pink feathers that comprise most of their head crest, which they will display when they are excited, angry, afraid, or thrilled with something. We have two living at the Perch. Read more HERE

Hercules was our first bird from the Arizona exotic bird rescue.
He likes to sing and dance with all the customers. He has all of the servers trained when he screams they bring him fruit.
Bubba likes to be the boss and can be a bit intimidating. Bubba loves attention but will bite you if you stick your fingers in his cage. Wants you to know he’s the boss of you. Bubba has some serious Dance moves if you can get him to dance. He loves when you sing to him, usually when you can get him to dance. Once Bubba loves and trusts you he is the best hugger. He absolutely loves to hang upside down! Like Pinky he has a loud voice and will scream back and forth with his brother.Bubba can be a bully to his brother but is not happy if Pinky is not near by. They have spent their entire lives together. Bubba can say “come here Bubba” but I think I am the only one that has heard it. Bubba loves banana chips and Brazilian nuts, well really any kind of nuts. Also, loves apples and grapes. If you can break thru Bubbas rough exterior you will find a sweet loving Bird underneath, you just might get bit trying!
Howdy! My name is Mango. My personality is as bright and busy as my beautiful feathers! My favorite toys are bells and rings that I can hang upside down from. I also love to put on a show for anyone who will talk to me. I love tug of war and screaming at you for no reason at all. When I’m in the right mood I crave an audience and will let you know if I’m feeling under appreciated. I may be a little bird but I have a big voice
Hi. My name is Maggie and I am an approximately 46 yr old blue and gold macaw. I came to the perch one year ago when my mom passed away. Don’t worry though; life isn’t too shabby nowadays. I eat healthy nuts, seeds and a pelleted diet. In the morning one of my friends here at the perch brings me APPLE Slices! I am still a little uneasy with interacting with people but as you can see my friends and visitors at The Perch are working on it. I also enjoy playing with toys and dancing to the music. I am working on being handled by humans as they haven’t really interacted with me that much in my life, but I get lots of almonds and fruit for doing it so. I am learning to gently take it from hands while in my cage because my cage is my safe place. I am pretty quiet for a macaw but I am happy.
